France attracts millions of tourists with its beautiful landscapes and beaches, its famous gourmet cuisine and its fascinating culture. But do you, as a tourist, really know how this Central European civilization treats its animals? Probably not. Unfortunately animal welfare is not a priority issue for central and local governments.

This blog was created to give you an insight into some of the most serious animal welfare problems that France is dealing with right now : bullfighting, still occurring cockfights, the production of foie gras, hunting of foxes and other animals, most animals are slaughtered without pre-stunning, systematic unnecessary euthanasia of dogs and cats, and the fact that the animal in the French legal system is still seen as an “object”. When we talk about it to people outside of France very often they are surprised and shocked. We think it is important that more and more people know about these problems, not only in France itself but all over the world.

By going on a holiday to France you contribute to its economy. So as well as knowing, we would like you to take a step even further. Next time you select your holiday destination please try to avoid the following towns.
